Downtown Phoenix North Hotel Reviews

I try to stay in this hotel every time I go to Phoenix. Rooms are large, beds and linens are comfortable, hotel is quiet AND I get this at a price a lot less than other hotels. Just tried the restaurant for the first time in November 2010 -- breakfast buffet at $8. Good.

I was in town for a convention at the Phoenix Convention Center, which is about 3-4 miles from the hotel. Any concerns with the distance between the hotel and convention center were immediately eliminated after my first trip on the new Metro light rail - clean, cheap, fast and convenient. Just a block and a half away from the hotel, the light rail made the commute easy and affordable ($10.50 for three days' unlimited travel), and the train dropped me off across the street from the convention center. I was also able to take the train to the airport upon my departure - $3.50 vs $25 for a taxi. The hotel itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and the room was in very nice shape - flat screen TV, free WiFi (wireless was a little slow, but ethernet was also an option), medium-sized fridge, and updated furnishings. A Walgreen's pharmacy just about a block away was also a nice convenience.
